SUMMARY: Responsible for respiratory assessment and care on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE : The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Assesses the respiratory status of inpatients and outpatients; assesses the appropriateness of all respiratory care orders; recommends changes or appropriate interventions as necessary to medical and nursing staff; assesses/initiates/monitors continuous ventilation in a newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric setting.
2. Administers, monitors and assesses patient response to a variety of ambient, positive pressure and oxygen enriched modalities.
3. Interprets arterial blood gas values and recommends appropriate interventions.
4. Responds to CODE 3, CODE BLUE, RRT and STAT calls to assess and maintain airway.
5. Performs other duties as required.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care.
Preferred Experience: Three to five years recent Critical Care experience in an emergency setting.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner license; Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), issued by American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Licenses/Certification: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP), issued by AHA.
Pay Range: $62.93 - $82.13 / Hour
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
