Qualifications

  • Proficiency in at least two modalities (X-ray, Fluoroscopy) required.
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist certificate and ARRT certification necessary.

Job description

Summary

SUMMARY: Under close supervision, the Radiologic Technologist (Multiple Modality) performs a variety of duties in the Department of Radiology/Imaging Services of Alameda Health System related to general Radiography/Fluoroscopy. Performs various diagnostic imaging examinations of patients as directed for diagnostic and treatment purposes according to established procedures. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are duties performed by employees in this classification. Employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  1. Assists Physician in administering opaque media (contrast).
  2. Rotates assignments within the department by assigned shifts as required to meet departmental needs.
  3. Processes images appropriately for the modality (CR/DR/Film) and is proficient in utilizing the PACS system (Picture Archival Communications).
  4. Maintains adequate records of examinations, doses, and contrast, utilizing two patient identifiers with each exam.
  5. Assists with movement of patients (rooming/transport).
  6. Assists in developing and optimizing technical factors for radiographic procedures.
  7. May assist in equipment or procedures not routinely taught in school.
  8. May assist in training students.
  9. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, with designated areas or procedures as required.
  10. Performs all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by employer.
  11. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.
  12. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of environment and supplies.
  13. Ensures utilization of non-expired supplies by checking stock regularly and using the “first in, first out” rule for restocking.
  14. Produces radiographs, positions and transfers patients, and provides immobilization devices as necessary to obtain images.
  15. Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  16. Utilizes techniques that promote ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for radiation exposure on an individual patient basis.
  17. Selects and operates all imaging equipment as directed and licensed to perform.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with possession of required licenses or certifications.
  • Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent, graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology, or military equivalent.
  • Preferred Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Required Experience: Proficiency in at least two modalities (e.g., X-ray and Fluoroscopy), with additional modality required for internal promotion or obtained within six months for external hires (e.g., CT, MRI). Must have ARRT certification in CT (for CT), Mammography (CRT(M)), and MRI (ARRT(MRI)), and Venipuncture certification.
  • Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Radiologic Technologist certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health, ARRT certification, valid Fluoroscopy Permit, and BLS certification from AHA.

Pay Range: $54.22 - $71.25 / Hour

The pay reflects the base scale at Alameda Health System. Compensation depends on experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental needs, and organizational policies. Alameda Health System offers a comprehensive benefits package.
