Job summary

Sun Valley Resort is seeking a hard-working Teamster to join the Stables team for the 2026-2027 winter season. You’ll drive horse-drawn sleighs and wagons for guests, while ensuring safety and delivering an authentic Sun Valley experience.

You will also care for horses, help with daily ranch tasks, and interact with guests, sharing knowledge about the horses and the history of the area. Evening and weekend shifts are required in a cold, snowy environment.

Qualifications

• Sleigh driving experience required.
• Experience with draft horses.
• Hospitality or tourism operations experience.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
• Strong horsemanship and ability to work around large animals.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable speaking to groups of guests during shifts.
• Ability to navigate uneven, icy, and snow-covered terrain.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and winter season.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate horse-drawn sleighs and/or wagons while transporting guests on winter trails.
• Welcome guests, assist boarding/exiting sleighs, and ensure a safe, enjoyable ride.
• Share information about draft horses and local history with guests.
• Feed, groom, monitor and care for horses’ health and well-being.
• Harness, hitch, unhitch, and prepare horses and sleighs; keep equipment clean and ready.
• Prepare sleighs between rides by clearing snow and arranging blankets.
• Assist with ranch tasks such as plowing, snow removal, and fence maintenance.
• Follow safety standards and animal welfare practices at all times.
