Naples Comprehensive Health - NCH is seeking a Sleep Technician for the Sleep Lab in Naples, FL. This part-time night position supports PSGs, CPAP titrations, and other sleep studies under policy and AASM guidelines.

Responsibilities include patient setup, data collection, documentation, and maintaining equipment. The role requires RPSGT or CPSGT certification, BLS, and basic computer skills; successful candidates contribute to quality care.

Responsibilities

• Measure using the 10/20 system and locate cephalic lead sites.
• Perform complete patient set-ups including all leads, belts and monitors.
• Carry out sleep study procedures (PSG, CPAP titrations, Split-Night, MSLT, MWT) per lab protocol.
• Provide patient and family education regarding sleep disorders and test procedures.
• Use Sandman Sleep computer system to enter new patients and generate reports.
• Archive studies, burn CDs and transmit studies for scoring.
• Provide basic emergency airway management including bag-valve-mask ventilation.
• Recognize emergencies and intervene during sleep studies as needed.
• Obtain artifact-free recordings and improve data quality.
• Document sleep study history, medications and interventions.
• Set up CPAP/BiPAP devices and maintain CPAP supplies.
• Support departmental operations to meet budget and confidentiality standards.

Job Summary

The Sleep Technician is responsible for all the Sleep Medicine Center procedures in accordance with NCH policy and procedure and guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Patient populations treated include geriatric and adult patients. The technician will work closely with all sleep center staff as well as with the Medical Director to provide the highest quality test results in a professional and courteous manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to measure (10/20 system) and locate the appropriate cephalic lead locations.
• The ability to perform complete patient set‑ups including all leads, belts and monitors.
• Performs all sleep study procedures (PSG, CPAP titrations, Split‑Night, MSLT, MWT) according to lab protocol.
• Provides patient and family education regarding sleep disorders, the test procedures, how to communicate during the test and what to do in case of an emergency.
• Thorough knowledge of the Sandman Sleep computer system including entering a new patient, recalling patient data, completing patient reports and setting up the display.
• Archive patient studies, burn CDs and transmit studies for scoring.
• Provides basic emergency airway management including bag‑valve‑mask ventilation.
• Recognizes the need for emergency intervention in the event sleep patients develop respiratory distress or other compromise during a study.
• Obtains artifact free recordings and makes every effort to correct poor data quality.
• Provides accurate and thorough documentation on the sleep study to enable physician interpretation.
• Documents an accurate patient history on all recordings to include history of illness, medications, and recording interventions.
• Properly masks fit patients who undergo CPAP testing.
• Set‑up and control all sleep center CPAP/BiPAP devices.
• Maintains stock of CPAP supplies and places orders as necessary.
• Actively assists and supports departmental activities to ensure that operational and salary expenses are equal to or less than approved budget.
• Understands the principles and concepts of Performance Improvement. Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvements and seeks to improve job skills.
• Maintains the principles of confidentiality. Understands the legal/regulatory requirements related to the release of information. Able to use the information systems pertinent to the job.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Certified Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT) required.
• Must complete the basic cardiology (EKG) course within 12 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
