JOB SUMMARY
The Polysomnographic Technologist provides sleep care services to patients according to provider’s instructions and protocols, performing Polysomnograms (PSG), Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance Wakefulness Test (MWT), and Unattended Sleep Studies. Must maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge to ensure quality patient care.
Educational qualifications must be from an accredited institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited polysomnographic technology program.
Minimum Required: One year experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Certified Respiratory Technician (CRT), Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (END), or Polysomnographic Technologist.
Preferred/Optional: Two years’ experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
Required: Certification by the BRPT as a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT) and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
JOB SUMMARY
The Polysomnographic Technician provides sleep care services under supervision until registered in polysomnography, performing PSG, MSLT, MWT, and Unattended Sleep Studies. Works under supervision until fully qualified to work independently.
Educational qualifications recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required:
Preferred/Optional: Associate degree in polysomnography, respiratory care, or electroneurodiagnostic technology.
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: Experience as a polysomnographic technician or in respiratory or electroneurodiagnostic fields.
Minimum: BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred: RPSGT registration with BRPT.
24 hours/week, three 8-hour shifts; two from 3-11 pm, one from 9 am-5 pm (flexible).
