Job summary

Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for our Sleep Specialists team. Evaluate and treat sleep disorders, perform comprehensive assessments, and manage therapy plans for a broad patient age range.

The role requires Idaho licensure, DEA/IBOP certifications, and BLS/ACLS/PALS; two years of independent practice is preferred. PRN schedule; team-oriented environment with a focus on timely, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Maintain current Idaho licensure and federal DEA/IBOP certifications.
  • Complete CME as required by licensure.
  • Maintain current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.
  • Minimum two years of independent primary, urgent, or emergency care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive sleep medicine evaluations, including history, examination, and treatment planning.
  • Educate patients on home and in-lab diagnostic results and treatment options for sleep apnea.
  • Prescribe therapies and medications related to sleep and daytime alertness; adjust therapy as needed.
  • Review PAP data, adjust settings, and monitor patient response to therapy.
  • Document all aspects of patient care and coordinate with staff for efficient clinic operations.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform full spectrum of sleep medicine care including history collection, evaluation of patient, relevant physical assessment, diagnosis of sleep conditions, plan of care, full management of therapy.
  • 2. For sleep apnea, review and educate patient on results of home and in-lab diagnostic and titration studies.
  • 3. Order or recommend appropriate therapy/equipment. Make appropriate referrals.
  • 4. Evaluate data on PAP download and make adjustments to therapy as needed and evaluate response to intervention
  • 5. Prescribe and evaluate response to medications relating to night sleep and daytime alertness.
  • 6. Document all aspects of care provided.
  • 7. Supervise and delegate tasks to staff members as indicated
  • 8. Precept midlevel students as requested.
  • 9. Maintain accurate count of all controlled substances within the office.
  • 10. Manage the patient’s care in a timely manner and maintain a level of productivity that is equivalent to the other providers on staff.

Qualifications

QualificationsEducation/Certification: Maintain current Idaho licensure, Federal DEA and IBOP certifications. Complete adequate CME as required by licensure. Maintain current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

Experience: At least two years of experience working independently in a primary care, urgent care, or emergency care setting evaluating and treating a broad range of patients, in terms of age (infants to elderly), medically compliant (infectious disease, cardiac, orthopedic, etc.) and acuity level (routine, urgent and emergent).

Equipment/Technology: Routine physical assessment tools

Language/Communication: Communicate well with staff, patients, family members, and consultants. Second language fluency is an asset.

Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills necessary to calculate medication dosages, etc.

Mental Capabilities: High level of diagnostic thinking, often rapid. Must be able to perform multi-tasking with frequent interruptions. Must be capable of on-the-spot problem-solving. Strong knowledge of up-to-date clinical information. Must be flexible.

Interpersonal: Ability to inspire staff to tackle challenging work. Ability to recognize, understand and address the needs of patients and family members on multiple levels. Ability to communicate well and inspire trust when encountering individuals of all cultures, levels of education and walks of life. Ability to project a feeling of caring and concern to others.

Performance: Must be able to work efficiently and comply with daily demands. Works well under pressure and able to meet multiple and competing deadlines. Able to work as part of a team of clinical providers who share responsibility for the patients’ well-being and the clinics’ operations. Understands the requirements of being a department of a hospital and complies with that level of quality .
