Job description

The Section of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Atrium Health Wake Forest School of Medicine and Brenner Children’s Hospital (BCH) is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty position in Pediatric Pulmonology and Pediatric Sleep Medicine. Candidates should be board certified in Pediatrics and either certified or eligible in Sleep Medicine and Pediatric Pulmonology. The provider may be required to rotate to satellite clinics.

The Pediatric Pulmonology section at BCH serves a diverse, high-acuity patient population, including:

• BPD
• Chronic ventilation or non-invasive ventilation
• Neuromuscular respiratory weakness
• Asthma
• Cystic fibrosis
• Sleep disorders
• Interstitial lung disease
• Sickle cell lung disease

Pediatric Sleep Medicine:

• We currently have three sleep providers in our sleep clinic, including a pediatric psychiatrist. Our five sleep center locations are accredited by the AASM: Winston-Salem (Charlois Blvd, 5 beds), Lexington Adult (4 beds), High Point Pediatric (3 beds), High Point Adult (4 beds), and Wilkes (2 beds), totaling 18 beds.
• A portable unit is available on the main campus in Winston-Salem for pediatric inpatients.
• The sites operate with a 2:1 patient-to-tech ratio in adult labs. Pediatric staffing ratios may vary from 1:1 to 2:1 depending on patient age and severity.
• We utilize Compumedics polysomnographic monitoring and Somnoware reporting software.

Pediatric Pulmonology Services:

• Our team includes five pediatric pulmonologists, a dedicated CF physician, and a PNP for inpatient/outpatient care.
• We are an accredited CF center and a member of the TDN, with a comprehensive CF team including providers, nurse coordinator, psychologist, RTs, social worker, dietitian, and pharmacist.
• We conduct multidisciplinary clinics for patients with CF, ventilator dependence, neuromuscular diseases, aerodigestive diseases, sickle cell disease, and pediatric sleep disorders.
• We perform inpatient and outpatient bronchoscopy with on-call bronchoscopy technicians (RTs) and have full lung function testing capabilities.
• Our team collaborates with adult pulmonary and sleep colleagues, Pediatric ENT, NICU, PICU, pediatric surgeons, and other pediatric subspecialists.
