Job summary

Black River Health is seeking a Sleep Lab Technician to join the Respiratory Care team on a per diem night shift. The technician will perform polysomnograms, attach electrodes, monitor patients, and report data to physicians. Responsibilities include CPAP titration and HSAT setup.

Educational requirements include a high school diploma, aSleep Lab training program, and BRPT certification (or working toward it). Sleep Lab experience and strong communication are preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Sleep Lab training program.
• Certification/Registration by the BRPT or working towards certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform polysomnograms and other sleep studies under Respiratory Care Manager.
• Attach electrodes and monitors on patients for sleep studies and HSAT setup.
• Monitor patients during sleep studies and document observations for physician review.
• Titrate CPAP/oxygen therapy as appropriate and score reports.
• Review patient history and communicate procedures to patients.

Don’t miss this opportunity to join our Respiratory Care team! Black River Health has an immediate opening for a Sleep Lab Technician. The Sleep Lab Technician u nder the direction of the Respiratory Care Manager, performs various polysomnograms and other sleep disorder tests. Responsible for attaching electrodes and monitors to patients who are participating in a sleep study. Monitors the patient throughout the sleep study and documents observations, collects data from various monitors, and reports this information to the physician. Responsible for CPAP titration and oxygen therapy when applicable. Scores reports.

The positions available are:

• Per Diem, 24 hours per pay period, Night shift (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - flexible), Non-Benefited
• Reviews the patient's medical history, allergies, current medications, and patient questionnaire and explains procedures to the patient before, during, and after the sleep study.
• Perform both in-lab studies and Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT).
• Performs patient set-up for in-lab studies: attaches electrodes and monitors to patient according to accepted standards. Instruct the patient in the proper setup of HSAT.
• Correctly interprets physiologic tracings and quickly decides to intervene regarding an emergency or potential for an emergency situation. Can troubleshoot problems encountered via phone with HSAT.

Educational Qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent

Completion of a Sleep Lab training program

• Certification/Registered (or working towards certification) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists

Sleep Lab experience preferred

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Basic Computer knowledge
