Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least four years of bedside patient care experience in a Sleep Lab (Sleep Technologist role).
  • RST or RPSGT credential from a recognized board.
  • BLS certification via American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency with EMR, Sleep Lab equipment, and related databases.
  • English language proficiency; ability to use Language Line for non-English patients.

  • Coordinate in-center and out-of-center diagnostic testing, therapies, and patient follow-up.
  • Educate patients and families about sleep disorders, PAP therapy, and treatment options.

At NARMC, team members have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working collaboratively across departments and disciplines.Job SummaryThe Sleep Lab Clinical Coordinator provides comprehensive evaluation, testing, treatment support, and education for patients with sleep disorders. The coordinator performs and oversees sleep technology functions, coordinates in-center and out-of-center sleep testing and therapeutic interventions, supports positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy, maintains patient follow-up processes, provides staff oversight and training, and works closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals.This position also supports EEG services and Sleep Lab quality improvement, education, and operational initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform and oversee sleep testing and sleep technology services in accordance with current American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) scoring guidelines and clinical practice standards.Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information using standardized assessment tools such as the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Berlin Sleep Questionnaire.Coordinate in-center and out-of-center diagnostic testing, therapeutic modalities, physician orders, and patient follow-up.Educate patients and families about sleep disorders, comorbidities, sleep hygiene, treatment options, PAP therapy, equipment use, interface troubleshooting, cleaning, safety, and treatment compliance.Assist patients with PAP acclimation and reinforce strategies that support treatment adherence and improved health outcomes.Communicate professionally with physicians, referring providers, patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team regarding symptoms, treatment concerns, and ongoing care.Maintain accurate, confidential, and secure electronic medical records and document patient interactions and follow-up activities.Manage patient follow-up databases and support insurance verification, authorization requirements, and patient financial responsibility processes.Provide oversight, education, training, and support to Sleep Lab staff.Participate in professional development and ongoing clinical education.Conduct referring provider outreach and promote Sleep Lab services by providing sleep-health resources and support to clinics and healthcare providers.Develop and implement quality assurance and quality improvement activities.Conduct monthly departmental and quality improvement meetings and maintain required documentation for regulatory and state inspection purposes.Provide monthly in-service education for Sleep Lab staff.Participate in quarterly continuous quality improvement (CQI) projects.Perform routine inpatient and outpatient EEG testing and maintain or obtain EEG testing proficiency.Maintain proficiency with Sleep Lab equipment, technology, databases, medical terminology, electronic medical records, and computer systems.Follow all applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, infection control requirements, privacy and security standards, and NARMC policies and procedures.Participate in orientation, safety programs, mandatory education, infection control activities, and departmental training.Support the Medical Director and Director of Cardiopulmonary/Sleep Lab in the overall operation of the Sleep Lab.Job QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or GED.At least four years of experience working as a Sleep Technologist in a Sleep Lab.Documented proficiency in required Sleep Technologist and Sleep Lab Clinical Coordinator competencies.Current Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential from a nationally recognized certification board.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.Proficiency with Sleep Lab equipment, patient assessment, medical terminology, electronic medical records, databases, and computer systems.Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English.Ability to effectively use Language Line services for non-English-speaking patients.Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, patient education, teamwork, customer service, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently, analyze complex situations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures.PreferredSuccessful completion of an accredited Sleep educational program.At least four years of bedside patient care experience.At least two years of supervisory or leadership experience.Experience with EEG testing.Experience with Sleep Lab program development, quality improvement, staff education, or clinical
