Position Summary

This position works with the Camp Director or designee to provide campers with a healthy camp environment, ensuring their wellbeing by following applicable state regulations, ACA Standards, Girl Scout Activity Checkpoints, and GSOFCT policies. Responsibilities include maintaining sanitary conditions of the shower house, bathrooms, and washstands throughout camp. Opportunities to coach campers in maintaining standards through participation in kapers are integral to the role.

Major Accountabilities
  • Organize cleaning of camp lodge, program areas, bathrooms, and shower facilities.
  • Clean toilets, sanitize sinks, and floors regularly.
  • Assist with cleaning the kitchen and dining hall.
  • Move luggage on incoming and outgoing days.
  • Report repairs needed for equipment and facilities.
  • Participate in camp activities such as flag ceremonies, campfires, and kapers.
  • Live in the units as an extra supervisor as needed.
  • Attend regular meetings with the Camp Director for communication.
  • Participate in opening and closing camp procedures.
  • Undergo training for cleaning procedures, universal precautions, and camper supervision.
  • Follow Camp Staff Personnel Policies.
  • Maintain health and safety standards, report accidents, and file incident reports promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to climb stairs, walk on uneven terrain, and work in extreme conditions.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and calculating dilution ratios of cleaning chemicals.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently with diverse groups.
  • Experience working with children, in group-living environments, or an interest in learning cleaning skills is preferred.
Education
  • High school diploma or higher preferred.
  • Current First Aid certification is preferred or willingness to obtain training.
