Job summary

RTX Hurricane Mesa Test Facility in Utah seeks a High-Speed Camera Engineer to own the lifecycle of sled-based imaging systems, operate both sled-mounted and fixed cameras, and deliver critical footage for post-test reviews with customers and engineers.

The role requires extensive experience with hi-speed camera systems and Phantom cameras, aligns with a STEM degree, and involves collaboration on camera upgrades while maintaining safe operations in field test environments.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience or specialized training with hi-speed camera systems.
• Experience with Ametek Phantom cameras and PCC software.
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

• Own the lifecycle of high-speed camera systems, including configuration, lens selection, calibration, maintenance, and system upgrades.
• Prepare and operate sled-mounted and fixed high-speed cameras during testing, ensuring proper setup and pre-test readiness.
• Capture, organize, and deliver high-speed footage, supporting post-test reviews with customers and end users.
• Collaborate with test engineers to integrate cameras into sled hardware and test fixtures.
• Contribute to camera capability improvements, including mounts, enclosures, and supporting hardware.
• Work safely around propulsion and energetic systems in outdoor field-test conditions.
• Support general test-site operations and other duties as assigned.
