SLD Thermal Hardware Structural Analysis Engineer III - Lunar Permanence

Join us to apply for the SLD Thermal Hardware Structural Analysis Engineer III - Lunar Permanence role at Blue Origin.

This position is part of Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops the Blue Moon lander product lines and builds sustainable infrastructure for lunar transport.

Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, develop, and test secondary structures and integrated structural assemblies.
  • Collaborate with thermal hardware engineers on structurally sound and thermally appropriate components.
  • Create 3D models, detailed drawings, assemblies, and interface control documents.
  • Coordinate structural interface designs with subsystem teams.
  • Provide manufacturing and production support, including travel as needed.
  • Support configuration development, trade studies, testing, and data analysis.
  • Work with teams on material selection, manufacturing processes, and suppliers.
  • Plan, conduct, and review tests; develop and procure equipment and tooling.
  • Maintain activity schedules, budgets, and technical reports.
  • Mentor junior engineers and identify operational improvements.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in engineering with 5+ years of related experience.
  • U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or legal status to work in the U.S.
  • Experience with launch vehicles, spacecraft, or aircraft structures.
  • Knowledge of metallic structural design, load path distribution, and material selection.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, Creo, and aerospace hardware verification.
Desired Qualifications
  • M.S. in engineering with 7+ years of experience.
  • Expertise in bonded/bolted joints, analysis codes (e.g., Ansys, Nastran).
  • Experience in manufacturing processes, composites, and design for manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, fabrication, and quality control.

Compensation ranges vary by location, e.g., CA: $117,498 - $164,497; CO: $107,707 - $150,789; WA: $117,498 - $164,497.
