Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer – Employment Engineer to join our engineering team in Dahlgren, VA, supporting the Sea-Launched Cruise Missile–Nuclear (SLCM-N) Program. This role focuses on developing, integrating, and testing advanced weapon-system capabilities and analyses.

The Employment Engineer will perform targeting data analysis, requirements tracing, and modeling to support threat mitigation, survivability, and weapon-system accuracy, interfacing with leadership to ensure

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering, science, or technical discipline or 5 years’ related experience in lieu of degree.
• 5 years in nuclear operations, C2 principles, and national-level programs.
• 5 years software engineering on real-time, software-intensive weapon systems.
• 3 years in software requirements analysis or design trade studies; DOORS usage.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance (US citizenship required).
• Must be eligible for RD/FRD access as required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate operational impact of system design choices on SLCM-N weapon system.
• Assess impacts to USSTRATCOM, CCDRs, SWFs, fleet, and NC2 community.
• Analyze targeting data, mission planning, system performance, and threats.
• Support modeling/simulation for threat mitigation, survivability, and effectiveness.
• Participate in trade studies and design optimization for survivability, range, lethality.
• Support LMDP and WISE deliverables; define requirements tracing (L0/L1).
• Collaborate with Lead/Product Owner and Technical Project Lead to align priorities.
• Support software requirements definition and other systems engineering activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
