Job summary

Iowa Premium, a National Beef Company, is seeking a Slaughter Production Supervisor for our Tama, Iowa facility. This on-site role leads production activities, safety programs, and quality compliance, while guiding teams to meet production schedules and maintain regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in packaging/food products, and demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
• Experience in packaging/food products preferred.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
• Strong safety and regulatory awareness.
• Ability to lead diverse teams and communicate across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all production activities in accordance with plant policies, standards for safety, quality, productivity and cost.
• Provide leadership to team members to increase effectiveness and build strong working relationships.
• Promote plant safety and environmental programs in compliance with plant and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure adherence to Quality, Sanitation, GMPP, and HACCP standards to meet quality specs.
• Manage staffing levels to current labor standards requirements and assign responsibilities to meet schedules.
• Coordinate training of team members with the assigned department.
• Apply disciplinary actions per plant policies and procedures.
• Investigate production delays and take corrective action as needed.
• Keep management informed of production status and promptly notify about issues impacting production.
• Coordinate storage and rework of quality control hold products with appropriate plant personnel.
• Foster teamwork and line-driven accountability; perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Slaughter Production Supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Supervising all production activities in accordance with plant policies, programs, and standards concerning safety, quality, productivity, and cost
• Providing continual leadership and guidance to team members for the purpose of increasing their effectiveness and establishing good working relationships
• Actively promoting plant safety and environmental programs and procedures that are in compliance with plant and regulatory requirements
• Actively promoting adherence to plant Quality, Sanitation, GMPP, and HACCP standards to achieve a finished product within quality control specifications
• Managing staffing levels to current labor standards requirements
• Assigning responsibilities to team members as required to meet planned production schedules
• Coordinating the proper training of team members with the assigned department
• Applying disciplinary actions in accordance with plant policies and procedures
• Investigating production delays and taking corrective action as necessary
• Keeping management informed of the status of production and promptly notifying management of issues impacting production
• Coordinating the storage and rework of quality control hold products with appropriate plant personnel

This is an on-site position. This is a safety sensitive position.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates for the Slaughter Production Supervisor position should possess the following:

• High School Diploma or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing supervisory experience
• Professional experience within packaging/food products industry is preferred
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies is preferred
• Experience working with a diverse group of people
• Ability to maintain high expectations for self and others, demonstrating a dedication to achievement of results
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Ability to analyze data and information, and to make effective and timely decisions
• Ability to use innovative approaches to resolve complex problems
• Ability to work under pressure and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization
