Job summary

National Beef in Tama, Iowa, is seeking a Slaughter Production General Supervisor to lead front-line teams and ensure production meets company standards. You will maintain safety, quality, and efficiency while coordinating with maintenance to reduce downtime and ensuring Kronos timekeeping accuracy.

This on-site, safety-sensitive role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to train staff, review schedules, and enforce policies, with company-paid training opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but required.
• Significant departmental job knowledge and/or previous job experience.
• Satisfactory safety record and good performance record.
• Ability to recognize problems that are serious or could be serious.
• Ability to interpret relevant reports and information.
• Good leadership skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to document extensively.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Willing to attend classes/seminars/trainings; company pays for courses.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Slaughter Production General Supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain production and quality while ensuring a safe work environment
• Ensure that product is produced to company specification
• Hold employee meetings to communicate and teach safety, policy, quality, and other information and requirements
• Train employees to ensure that they are following proper procedures and policies while conforming to customer requirements, providing corrective action/discipline if needed
• Learn the specifics of each position within your area of responsibility
• Monitor and maintain accurate Kronos records for patrol
• Ensure employee safety by correcting and documenting all safety violations immediately
• Work to minimize the impact of any employee injury, having concern of injured employees first and then investigating, documenting, and implementing corrective measures
• Work to instill cooperation in others
• Ensure employees are properly trained and equipped with appropriate protective equipment and training them as to the proper wearing, inspection, and cleaning of equipment
• Ensure that all employees' questions and problems are responded to timely
• Conduct self in a professional manner, at all times treating all employees fairly, consistent with corporate policy and facility guidelines without regard to race, sex, age, religion, national origin, or disability
• Manage staff of front-line supervisory staff and ensuring that all jobs are filled at the beginning of the shift and throughout
• Review production schedules to ensure product specification are being followed to meet demands
• Examine product at various stages for variations from standard
• Supervise, coordinate activities and issue instructions to front-line supervisors and hourly employees
• Coordinate with maintenance to eliminate excessive and unnecessary downtime of machinery
• Perform other duties as instructed by Superintendent and Slaughter Manager

This is an on-site position. This is a safety sensitive position.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates for the Slaughter Production Supervisor position should possess the following:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but required
• Must have significant departmental job knowledge and/or previous job experience
• Satisfactory safety record and good performance record
• Must have the ability to recognize problems that are or could be of a serious nature, reporting such problems to the Superintendent and/or Slaughter Manager
• Ability to interpret relevant reports and information
• Good leadership skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with all exempt and non-exempt employees both verbally and in writing
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Ability to document extensively
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Mathematical computation and analytical skills preferred
• Must be willing to attend classes, seminars, workshops, training, etc. during/after work hours, company pays for courses, must successfully pass courses
• Appropriate attire required at all times
