Job summary

The Personnel Board of Jefferson County seeks qualified Tree Trimmer candidates for Birmingham locations. The role involves performing tree care, responding to hazardous situations, and working at heights using bucket trucks and ladders.

Strong independent work ethic and reliable public communication are essential. You will handle equipment inspection, tree removal, and safe operation to keep roadways clear and communities safe.

Qualifications

• Experience with professional tree service trimming/removing trees using a variety of chain saws and other equipment including ropes, saddles, etc.
• Experience operating bucket truck or aerial lift to trim/remove trees.
• Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the community by planting trees using various hand tools, educating local schools, and sharing information about the importance of trees.
• Inspects and maintains equipment (saws, ropes, climbing gear, trucks) for safety and readiness.
• Performs tree removal and trimming on city/county property using bucket truck and climbing gear to clear roads and sidewalks.
• Reviews job information, coordinates with affected parties, and prepares equipment for safe work execution.
• Ensures the site is clean before leaving by removing debris and ensuring a safe roadway for the public.
• Operates the aerial lift to reach into trees for pruning or limb removal.
• Reviews work orders to determine next location and type of work.
• Operates larger chain saws to cut trunk sections safely.
