Job summary

Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority seeks a Skilled Trades Assistant to learn preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, chillers, and related equipment around LVCC facilities.

This entry-level role supports journey-level tradespeople, prepares tools, reads blueprints, and helps maintain logs, with emphasis on safety, PPE, teamwork, and eligible to advance to journeyman trades.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
• Able to read blueprints and schematics; basic math skills.
• Willingness to learn HVAC, electrical, and plumbing maintenance.
• Willing to wear PPE and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist with journey-level assignments to learn HVAC and other trades.
• Support routine to complex installation, maintenance, and repairs of boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, motors, compressors, electrical, kitchen, and refrigeration equipment.
• Obtain and organize tools, equipment, and materials for the tradesperson.
• Learn troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of systems.
• Operate power and hand tools and diagnostic equipment safely.
• Read blueprints and schematics to diagnose repairs.
• Complete work orders and maintain logs/records.
• Perform post-work cleaning.
