Job summary

Stoughton Trailers is seeking a Structural MIG Welder/Fabricator in Wisconsin to prepare parts, set up machines for carbon and stainless steels, and lay down MIG welds in multiple positions. You will align components with braces, jigs, and other tools, grind edges, and ensure tolerances are met.

Expect crane and robotic welding cell operations, with a focus on safety and productivity. The role requires blueprint literacy, basic shop math, and the ability to pass weld tests and pulmonary function

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; combination of education and work experience considered.
• Blueprints and process sheets literacy required.
• Knowledge of gauges and tape measures; basic shop math.
• Understanding welding practices and defect identification/repair.
• Ability to set up weld machines, oxy-fuel and plasma equipment, and robotic welders.
• Ability to pass written and hands-on weld tests; pulmonary function tests may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare parts and assemblies and set machines for carbon and stainless steels.
• Align components using blocks, braces, jigs, wedges, drift pins, turnbuckles, and pry bars.
• Weld MIG in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical down, overhead).
• Grind/ chip rough edges and remove excess weld/scale to spec.
• Clamp/ bolt straps or parts to hold tolerances.
• Operate overhead cranes and hoists safely; monitor throughput.
• Measure and record quality checks; operate robotic welding cells.
• Maintain safe, efficient, productive work practices; overtime as needed.
