Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a plant maintenance worker for our Bartlett, IL facility to support safe, reliable production. You will perform general tasks, assist with equipment repair and maintenance, and conduct daily inspections to maximize uptime.

The role requires outdoor work, exposure to loud noises, and overtime flexibility. Prior experience in construction or aggregates is preferred; Local 150 union benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of general industrial maintenance principles is preferred.
• Must be able to work overtime and in all weather conditions; outdoor work and loud noise exposure.

Responsibilities

• Promote Safety and prioritize safety standards.
• Perform general physical activities to assist plant operation.
• Repair and maintain equipment and assist with servicing and adjustments.
• Inspect equipment and structures to ensure safe and reliable operations.
• Operate vehicles and equipment as needed to support plant operations.

What You'll Do

• Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Perform General Physical Activities. Perform a variety of tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.
• Repair and Maintain Equipment. Assist co-workers in the servicing, repairing, and adjusting of various pieces of equipment throughout the plant.
• Inspect Equipment and Structures. Perform daily inspections and maintenance of the plant equipment in order to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations that maximize production and minimize interruptions.
• Operate Vehicles and Equipment. Operate heavy construction equipment or similar types of cleanup loaders in order to assist with the operation of the plant.

Skills You'll Need

• Experience. Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of industrial maintenance, construction, or aggregate production is preferred.
• Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Mechanical Skills. Knowledge and experience with industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance preferred.

• Compensation. The salary is prescribed by the applicable Local 150 collective bargaining agreement. Candidates will be placed according to the union contract salary scale between $45.00 to $47.00.
