Job summary

National HealthCare Corporation in the Gallatin, TN area is seeking a Maintenance Painter responsible for applying finishes, performing drywall repairs, and prepping surfaces to ensure optimal durability and appearance. The role requires following work orders, adhering to safety standards, and coordinating with the Maintenance Director for priorities.

The successful candidate will read technical manuals, plan tasks, and may direct others.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of local codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to plan and direct maintenance and/or installation tasks.
• Knowledge of record keeping and cost estimating for maintenance projects.
• Familiarity with supplies and equipment used by the painting/decorating department.
• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Apply finishes to equipment, buildings, or other structures using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
• Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulk guns or putty knives.
• Minor drywall repair.
• Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other solutions and sand rough spots to ensure finishes will adhere properly.
• Remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, or electric switch covers prior to painting.
• Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect during painting.
• Mix and match colors of paint, stain, varnish with additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies.
• Strip wood and metal.
• Hang wall covering.
• Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisor to determine work requirements.
• Other duties related to classification
