Job summary

UW Medical Center is seeking a Painter for 100% FTE day shift located on campus in Seattle, WA. The role performs skilled painting on interior and exterior surfaces to support renovation projects, with emphasis on preparing surfaces, applying primers and coatings, and maintaining equipment.

Minimum qualifications include completion of a recognized painter apprenticeship or journey status, or four years of related experience; a WA driver's license may be required. Union pace and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a painter; OR full journey status as a painter in a union; OR four years of applicable work experience.
• May require valid State of Washington driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Paint a variety of interior and exterior surfaces to support UW Medical Center renovation projects.
• Track time spent on projects and report on time sheets.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, washing, or removing dirt, grease, old finishes, and rust scale.
• Perform minor repairs in plaster, sheetrock, metal, wood and masonry surfaces as needed.
• Apply primers, sealers, stains and undercoats; paint machinery, piping, floors and walls; use hi-tech enamels/epoxies.
• Move furniture and place protective drop cloths; tape baseboards, glass, and other surfaces as needed.
• Clean brushes and painting equipment; observe safety requirements.
• Install, work from, and remove scaffolding, ladders, and other platforms.
• Drive service truck; load and unload materials and supplies; may operate ladders, boom trucks, and forklift.
