Job summary

Sterling Care Bethesda is seeking a compassionate Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit with clerical duties, chart maintenance, and PCC data entry. You will greet residents and families, answer calls, and assist with admissions and discharges in a busy skilled nursing environment.

Ideal candidates have healthcare or unit secretary experience, familiarity with medical terminology, and strong organizational and customer-service skills.

Qualifications

• Healthcare, unit secretary, or administrative experience preferred.
• Long-term care/skilled nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• PointClickCare (PCC) experience is a plus.
• Strong computer, data-entry, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a busy healthcare environment.
• Dependable, professional, and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical and administrative support to the nursing unit.
• Greet and assist residents, families, and visitors.
• Answer phones and assist with family questions and concerns.
• Maintain and organize resident charts and medical documentation.
• Assist with new admission and discharge paperwork.
• Schedule resident medical appointments and communicate appointments to the nursing team.
• Prepare necessary medical records for appointments.
• Enter and maintain information in PointClickCare (PCC).
• Assist with tracking resident weights and other required documentation.
• Support Nurses and GNAs with unit needs.
• Assist residents during meals as appropriate.
• Help ensure the nursing unit remains organized and running efficiently.
