Job summary

Bell & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Nursing Director to plan, coordinate, and manage the nursing department for resident care. The role directs nursing staff and ensures high-quality services aligned with regulations and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has RN licensure and leadership experience in long-term care, with responsibility for staffing plans, budgeting, and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the state.

Responsibilities

• Direct, coordinate, and evaluate the nursing department and the care it provides.
• Supervise registered nurses, licensed vocational/practical nurses, and other nursing staff.
• Interview, hire, train, assign, and evaluate nursing personnel; handle discipline, scheduling, breaks, overtime, and staff complaints.
• Find replacements for absent staff and transfer employees among units as needed.
• Schedule and perform resident rounds to monitor quality and appropriateness of nursing care.
• Maintain accountability for proper charting, documentation, medications, and treatments.
• Recommend staffing levels; develop and implement the written staffing plan and nursing schedule based on resident needs.
• Participate in the facility budget process; manage nursing supply, equipment, and staffing budgets.
• Maintain current knowledge of managed care, Medicare, and state Medicaid regulations, reimbursement systems, and JCAHO standards for long-term care where applicable.
• Participate in Quality Assurance studies and drive process improvements from the data.
• Ensure nursing staff complete assessments (MDS/RAPs), care plans, interventions, documentation, and physician consultation.
• Act in charge of the facility in the absence of higher-ranking management.
