Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Administrator and the direct supervision of a Registered or Licensed Vocational Nurse, the Skilled Nursing Activity Coordinator, CNA (Activity Coordinator) provides a variety of patient care activities across the life span and accommodative services for assigned patients. The Activity Coordinator develops, coordinates, and manages activities for Skilled Nursing Center patients/residents. These activities are carried out according to hospital policy, the hospital mission statement, and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION

High school graduate or GED equivalent; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

Previous experience working with aged or handicapped individuals. Experience in an accredited healthcare facility preferred.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Certification in the State of Texas as a Nursing Assistant. Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association. Certified Activities Director or currently enrolled in a state-approved activities director course.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of basic clinical skills to deliver direct patient care to an individual or group of patients including but not limited to vital signs and activities of daily living. Accepts assigned responsibilities as an accountable member of the healthcare team. Proficient with data entry/computer skills for care documentation. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
