Job summary

Tenneco is seeking a manufacturing associate to tend metal fabricating machines in a typical manufacturing environment. You will read work instructions, set up and adjust machines, and ensure parts meet quality specs.

The role requires using hand tools, basic math, and clear communication with supervisors and peers. You will participate in 5S and team-based problem solving to maintain production flow.

Qualifications

  • Must read and comprehend work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions in English.
  • Must write simple correspondence in English.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Must communicate clearly with supervisors, peers, or subordinates by phone, in writing, and/or in person.
  • Must work within a team environment and handle hand tools.
  • Must maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Produce parts as directed to attain required production levels and quality.
  • Prep and inspect parts for final production.
  • Run first time production parts and perform Poka Yokes.
  • Participate in job rotation to address cross training and ergonomics.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale or template.
  • Position workpiece against stops or align layout marks with die or blades.
  • Observe machine operations to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Monitor output of quality parts through inspection, scrap records, and SPC.
  • Measure workpiece dimensions for accuracy of machine operation.
  • Perform 5S activities.
