Wieland is hiring a Skilled Machinist. This position is responsible for operating and setting up a variety of machines on fairly complicated work to close tolerances. May perform setups for other operators and trains on set standards and company policies. This position calls up programs and performs manual data input. Makes minor modifications to programs as required with approval and direction of engineering and/or management/supervisors. This role is located in Lake Zurich, IL and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay: $27/hour

Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Pay Schedule: Weekly

Responsibilities

Skilled Machinist Responsibilities:

  1. Perform advanced setup operations (aerospace, new product, etc.), adjust and check out programming and operate numerically controlled machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill.
  2. Troubleshoot issues prior to getting engineering department involved.
  3. Able to setup and run all machines on Production floor.
  4. Train others on setup and running of CNC machines.
  5. Measure close tolerances and train others on proper measuring as this position is a Certified First Piece Inspector.
  6. Stack/unload product per instructions and any other material handling as stated.
  7. Effectively communicate with co-workers and management.
  8. Production quantity entered accurately in ERP system.
  9. Accurately input job data per MBP MMS requirements.
  10. Accurately measure part per inspection requirements, utilizing various gaging and metrology equipment.
  11. Participate in any team activity as needed.
  12. Be seen as a “go-to” person to get work accomplished.

Skilled Machinist Qualifications:

  1. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  2. Good written and verbal communication.
  3. Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  4. Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  5. Advanced blueprint reading.
  6. Advanced understanding of GD&T.
  7. Proper measuring techniques with a variety of gages.
  8. Knowledge of ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials.
  9. Strong mechanical aptitude.
