Job summary

Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America is seeking a Skilled Machine Operator in De Soto, KS. You will operate lithium-ion battery production machines across clean-room environments and support 5S, material movement, and production logs.

You will communicate with maintenance and team members to ensure quality and safety while maintaining shift records and adhering to all environmental regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; AA/AS preferred.
  • Must have working-level English: reading, writing, speaking.
  • Minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience.
  • Must pass forklift, electric pallet jack, and manual pallet jack certification.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; able to complete online training.

Responsibilities

  • Operate lithium-ion battery production machines and support clean-room areas.
  • Maintain shift logs, QC records, and production logs with accuracy.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and maintenance to address quality issues.
  • Follow safety and environmental regulations; uphold 5S and housekeeping.
  • Assist in material movement and basic analysis as required.

Description

Skilled Machine Operator operates one or several lithium-ion battery cell production machines within a variety of departments, including many clean-room environments. Machine types may be inspection and conveyance machines. Operators also perform related machine and work area upkeep (5S), material movement, conduct basic analysis and sustain production logs. Operators work across a team to ensure safe and high-quality product. In this role, you will be required to maintain active communication with co‑workers and Maintenance Technicians for quality and production related issues. When necessary, elevate these issues to management or the appropriate personnel. Maintain shift logs and QC records for the assigned areas. The individual must work and comply with safety working standards, practice, and all environmental regulations in addition to all company rules and policies.

Operators also perform related machine and work area upkeep (5S), material movement, and conducts basic analysis and production logs. Operators work across a team to ensure safe and high-quality product. In this role, you will be required to maintain active communication with co‑workers and Maintenance Technicians for quality and production related issues. When necessary, elevate these issues to management or the appropriate personnel. Maintain the shift logs and QC records for the assigned areas. Individual must work and comply to safety working standards, practice, and all environmental regulations.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a requirement for some roles at PENA and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

MUST-HAVES:
Education:
  • Basic/Required: High School Diploma, GED (General Education Development) or equivalent
  • Preferred: AA/AS degree in technical writing, engineering, draft, or related field desired
NICE-TO-HAVES:
  • Minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience
  • Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Able to analyze data
  • Must be certified in Train the Trainer Program
  • Strong knowledge of soft skills affecting the overall functioning of training
  • Excellent evaluative assessment and training skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal abilities
  • Must be able to operate all quality equipment related to mixing, coating, pressing, slitting, and SB
  • Must be able to motivate team members, and work in a high performing team environment. Will need to counsel and deliver performance appraisals to operators
  • Must have a safety conscientious attitude
  • In the absence of a supervisor, must be able to make safe, business minded, conscientious decisions when issues arise
  • Must be able to pass a forklift, electric pallet jack and manual pallet jack certification
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Work within the Metric and Standard systems of measurement
