Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Skilled Laborer to support long-haul telecom construction projects nationwide. You will perform hands-on tasks across aerial and underground work, with a strong emphasis on safety and collaboration with your crew.

Responsibilities include conduit and fiber installation, equipment operation, and reading plans. This role offers competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for long-term growth through extensive field experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years working outdoors, preferably in utilities/construction.
• Must have a current CDL class A or B with a clean driving record for last 3 years.
• Willingness to travel nationwide 7 days a week; rotating schedule and overtime possible.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs consistently and work in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on construction tasks: digging, trenching, site prep, material handling and cleanup.
• Assist with aerial and underground telecom construction including conduit, fiber installation and fiber blowing.
• Operate trucks, trailers and construction equipment as trained and certified.
• Read construction prints, maps and design plans to support projects.
• Maintain a clean, safe job site and follow all safety requirements.

Responsibilities

As a Skilled Laborer on our Long Haul Travel Crew, you will support aerial and underground telecom construction projects nationwide, on all phases of utility construction for various types of projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

• Put safety first, following all company, OSHA, and job-site requirements and using proper PPE
• Perform hands-on construction work, including digging, trenching, site preparation, material handling, and cleanup
• Assist with aerial and underground telecom construction, including conduit and fiber installation and fiber blowing
• Operate and assist with trucks, trailers, and construction equipment as trained and certified
• Learn to safely use hand tools, power tools, and telecom equipment such as bucket trucks, line trucks, and cable reels
• Assist with basic troubleshooting and repair of RF and fiber systems
• Learn to read construction prints, maps, and design plans
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

About You:

• Safety is a part of your day-to-day
• You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality
• At least 1-2 years of experience working outdoors, preferably in a utilities/construction environment
• Must be physically able and willing to lift up to 50 lbs., consistently and independently
• Must have a current and valid CDL class A or B, with a clean driving record for the past 3 years
• You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team
• You are looking for long-term projects and growth opportunities
• You want to learn the telecom construction trade to advance your career, like Coax Splicing, Fiber Splicing, Directional Drilling, etc.
• Open to travel nationwide 7 days a week, per diem, 4-5 weeks on, and 5 days off on a rotating schedule (50+ hours per week, depending on the weather), and working overtime consistently

MOS Codes 12K, 12N,12V, 12W, 21E, 21J, 25P, 91C, 91L, 11B, 1100, 1120, 1316, 9970-9975, 0612, 2T3XX, 2E1XX, 3E2XX, 3E3XX, 9T0XX, BU, UT relate well to this position.

Compensation of $21-$25 per hour, depending on the experience.
