Job summary

White Cap in Maine is seeking a dependable material handler to operate powered lift equipment and support a safe, efficient production flow. You will move, load, unload, stage, and retrieve lumber, rebar, and related materials while maintaining an organized work area and clear communication with teammates.

The role requires 2–5 years of material-handling experience, HS Diploma or GED, and lift equipment certification.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred; specialized skills training may be required.
• Typically 2–5 years of experience in material handling or related area.
• Maintains current lift equipment operator training and certification for assigned equipment.
• Reads work orders, identifies materials, follows safety procedures, and communicates clearly.

Responsibilities

• Operates powered lift equipment to move, load, unload, stage, and retrieve materials safely and efficiently.
• Supports machine operators by tying and untying bundles, cutting tie wire, and preparing materials for production.
• Sorts and separates orders to support accurate and timely production, staging, and delivery.
• Inspects materials and lift equipment for damage, defects, or discrepancies and reports concerns promptly.
• Places and retrieves materials accurately to support inventory control and dependable workflow.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area to reduce hazards and improve operating efficiency.
• Follows required safety procedures, equipment rules, and PPE standards.
• Communicates clearly with associates to coordinate material flow, priorities, and task completion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
