Job summary

The University of Rhode Island in Kingston seeks a Diesel Truck and Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, maintain and repair diesel-powered trucks and motorized equipment on campus.

You will join the Landscape & Grounds Maintenance team, perform repairs to transmissions, diesel engines, braking systems and hydraulics, and generate and document work orders to ensure safety and durability of university fleets.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of tools and methods used in diesel truck and motorized equipment repair.
• Ability to perform a wide range of tasks with minimal supervision.
• Capable of working in extreme weather and performing heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair diesel trucks and motorized equipment.
• Inspect, repair and replace parts of diesel engines, transmissions, braking and steering systems.
• Perform welding and body work as needed on trucks and related equipment.
• Generate and document work orders and review invoices for accuracy.
