Job summary

Great Place Construction (GPC) is looking for a skilled commercial tradesman to join our busy team in the Sioux Falls area. This is a full-time year-round position for carpenters, with a Monday through Friday schedule and no weekend work.

Paid travel time and company vehicles are provided, with advancement opportunities as we grow. We train for a range of commercial carpentry tasks, including framing, trim, cabinets, and structural repairs.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Strong math skills are necessary for measurements and layouts.
• Reliable and good attitude with a strong work ethic.
• 2-4 years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry.
• Ability to understand schematic diagrams, blueprints, and building plans.
• Knowledge of job site safety rules and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Fitting and installing window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
• Erecting scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures at height.
• Reading blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials.
• Shaping or cutting materials to specified measurements with hand tools, machines, or power saws.
• Building or repairing cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures.
• Assembling materials to create frameworks using hand tools and screws, nails, or glue.
• Removing damaged parts and repairing/replacing with hand tools.
• Inspecting ceilings, floors, tiles, or woodwork to detect damage.
• Moving materials around the jobsite as assigned.
• Maintaining a clean, safe worksite and following safety regulations.
