CNC Machinist Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, or multi-axis machines according to job specifications and blueprints
- Load raw materials and align tools according to part programs and setups
- Monitor machine operations for proper performance and accuracy
- Create, edit and optimize G-code programs using CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T symbols and work orders
- Troubleshoot and adjust offsets or tool paths to correct errors and maintain tolerances
- Perform in-process and final part inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges and other precision measuring tools
- Document inspection results and maintain traceability for quality control purposes
- Maintain tight tolerances (typically within +/- 0.0005") on all machined parts
- Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning on machines and tools to maximize performance and longevity
- Report machine malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately
- Follow all company safety protocols and procedures
