Airbus US Manufacturing Facility

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Manufacturing and Maintenance Technician to join our Manufacturing team based in Mobile, AL.

The Manufacturing and Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing technical and mechanical support to the back shop and production line. The technician will set, repair and implement Automatic Drilling Units in collaboration with production needs.

Airbus is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180‑day program allows transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high‑precision aerospace environment.

SkillBridge Eligibility
  • Active‑duty service member within 180 days of separation.
  • Written Commander (O‑4 or above) authorization.
  • Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.

Mobile, AL – U.S. Assembly Facility
On ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Kinson, NC – Aerosystems Kinston facility
The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state‑of‑the‑art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Columbus, MS – Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines
On the eastern border of Mississippi you’ll find Columbus, home to helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It’s here that we produce the UH‑72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H‑125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Set‑up and implement equipment for the Back Shop and Production in Final Assembly Lines. Advises on best practices utilized for floor setup and traffic strategy at other Final Assembly Lines.
  • Oversee the qualification of ADU (Automated Drilling Unit) and support their entry into service at the supplier site: FAL‑USA.
  • Responsible for the adjustment of ADUs, cutting tools and drilling templates.
  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair of ADUs.
  • Provide oversight and limited instruction to employees using equipment for the first time(s).
  • Support the Head of Back Shops and the production line in technical problem solving, regarding ADU's, cutting tools, drilling templates and test equipment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of the type of mechanical work performed in the FAL Back Shop.
  • Maintains a high level of skills and is generally perceived as an authority regarding ADU maintenance and adjustment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education
  • High School Diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of training/experience.
  • The ability to successfully complete the following trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment:
    • Health & Safety
    • General aircraft familiarization
    • Quality trainings
Preferred Education
  • Training from a vocational school, military training or previous employer in the use of application tools and in application techniques.

  • 2 years minimum experience with hands‑on experience in the maintenance of industrial equipment, ADU's, drilling templates, cutting tools or test equipment.

Physical Requirements
  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.
  • Confined Space: able to enter and exit a 12" x 22" passage and work through a 9.7" x 17.7" opening while using a respirator within a confined space for various lengths of time.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 55 lbs/25 kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 55 lbs/25 kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
