Aboutthe company:

SCSC is a Naval SeaSystems Command (NAVSEA) Echelon III U.S. Navy Field Activity with 92 military,84 government civil service, and 267 contractors executing high-fidelityshipboard representative integrated warfare capabilities in a maritimeenvironment, consisting of the AEGIS Engineering & Training Complex, theShip Self Defense System (SSDS) facility, the Wallops Island Engineering TestCenter, and the Wallops Island Radar Test Site as tenants on the NASA WallopsFlight Facility.

FutureSCSC capabilities include High Energy Laser with Integrated Optical-Dazzler andSurveillance Weapon System (HELIOS), next-generation radars, the SurfaceElectronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP), and a cooperative with NASAdeveloping Unmanned Arial Vehicles and supporting Large Space Vehicle launchesas SCSC continues to evolve toward becoming the preferred asset for technologyand systems integration, test and verification of combat systems across thefive battlespace domains of space, surface, air, undersea, and cyberspace /electronic warfare. SSDS Maintenance Technicians with an interest in expandingtheir systems expertise are afforded opportunities to work on these and othercapabilities.

Compensation Target (If hired after the internship):

$52K - $72K Annual Salary (This is a target based on internship performance, experience, etc.)

Relevant Military Experience

Summary:

Boarhog is eager to fill an immediate opening for a Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) MK2Maintenance Technician to work with a team of professionals supporting theSurface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island (WI) Virginia.

The team provides technology assessments ofoperational, engineering, and cybersecurity readiness as the last stop forhardware, software, and Integrated Combat Systems testing prior to delivery tothe Fleet. This is fully funded follow-on contract that started on January 8thof 2023 lasting until January 7th of 2028 and this incumbent team has beendelivering exceptional services for many years.

REQUIREDEXPERIENCE:

• Seven (7) years of demonstrated experience assessing,troubleshooting, and performing corrective and preventive maintenance onSSDS systems and equipment, with allowance for education to substitute forexperience (see education and training section below).
• Organizational-level maintenance experience monitoring and managingthe operation of SSDS MK2 OA Tech Refresh MODs 1C/3C/5C/6C, SSDS OA MK 2OA Tech Refresh MODs 1C/2C/3C/5C, SSDS OA MK 2 OA Tech Refresh MODs1C/2C/3C/5C with (TI-12H) ORDALT, and BFTT AN/USQ-T46D(V) configurations.
• Experience may be accumulated concurrently. For example, if thecandidate worked while going to school, the work experience and educationtime are credited concurrently.

EDUCATION/ TRAINING:

• An Associates Degree in a technical or computer-related disciplinecould substitute for two (2) years of the aforementioned seven years ofexperience, bringing the required experience down to five (5) years.
• For other relevant degrees/education, appropriate education can becounted as experience at a rate of two (2) years of education equals one(1) year of experience for up to four (4) years of experience, potentiallybringing the required experience down to one (1) year.
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field /discipline is desired, or four (4) additional years of demonstratedexperience as outlined above can be substituted for a degree.
• SCSC technical positions (those not designated electrical ormechanical engineer positions requiring Professional Engineercertification) on this contract present opportunities to cross-trainfollowing a variation of the Navy's Personnel Qualification Standards(PQS) program, such that for example, the SSDS Mk2 Maintenance Tech isoffered opportunities to train and qualify as an Information Systems Tech,Project Analyst, Audio/Visual Tech, Radar Tech, Computer Network Tech,Communications Tech, Navigation Electronics Tech, Cisco Tech, and TestDirector, with commensurate increases in compensation.

CERTIFICATION:

Musthave or obtain within one year of onboarding an Operating System trainingcertificate or certification and Security+ certification.

ADDITIONALSELECTION CRITERIA:

• Eligible candidates must either currently have, or be eligible toobtain and sustain a SECRET clearance. Boarhog's Facility Security Officerwill determine the cleared eligibility of successfully screened candidatesas a prerequisite to a conditional offer of employment.
• Preference will be given to candidates who reside in, or will moveinto, a Small Business Administration (SBA) designated HistoricallyUnderutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) area, of which Wallops Island VA isone. See the SBA website for the map of HUBZone locations.

Training that will be included in this internship

Defense Industry contractor proactive security training, Boarhog company training, military base orientation training.

Boarhog has a contract to support the U.S. Navy's Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) on Wallops Island, Virginia, with former junior Sailors in the various technical ratings associated with the troubleshooting and maintenance of three different ship systems:

• Electronic Warfare systems (SLQ-32/SEWIP),
• Ship Self Defense System (SSDS),
• Ship Navigation systems (WSN7, NAVSSI, GPNTS, FODMS, GEDMS)
