Job summary

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, AL, is seeking a DoD SkillBridge Flightline Mechanic to support the manufacturing department. You will perform functional tests, pre/post flight inspections, and troubleshoot/repair aircraft systems using approved data to prepare aircraft for test flights and delivery readiness.

The role requires interpreting technical manuals and data, operating diverse test equipment, and supporting tasks with strong attention to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum aviation experience, preferably in an aviation manufacturing, MRO environment or military aviation.
• Valid Airframe License.
• Willingness to work rotation shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport allowing travel.
• Vocational/Technical School Credential.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot malfunctions, rigs, repairs, and replace aircraft structures and components of moderate difficulty.
• Maintain and rework aircraft components including landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti-icing, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and ventilation.
• Service and repair cabin interior components.
• Prepare documentation per company procedure.
• Perform day-to-day aircraft maintenance.
• Experience with Refuel/Defuel, Aircraft Jack and Tow.

Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a DoD SkillBridge Flightline Mechanic to join our Manufacturing department based in Mobile, AL.

The Flightline Mechanic is responsible for performing Functional Test Procedure, Pre & Post Flight inspection to prepare built aircraft for test flight and delivery readiness. This would include troubleshooting, repairing and inspecting aircraft systems using approved aircraft data. The Flightline Mechanic would proficiently operate and understand a wide variety of test equipment and tooling. The Mechanic must have the ability to interpret technical manuals, drawing and engineering data to support tasks.

Airbus is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day program allows transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment.

SkillBridge Eligibility:

• Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation.
• Written Commander (O-4 or above) authorization.

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot malfunctions, rigs, repairs, replacement aircraft structures, components and aircraft systems of moderate difficulty
• Maintain and rework Aircraft Components including but not limited to landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and ventilation
• Servicing, repair cabin interior components

Your boarding pass:

Required Education:

• High School Diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of training/experience.
• The ability to successfully complete the following trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment:

Preferred:

• Training from a vocational school, military training or previous employer in the use of application tools and in application techniques.

Physical Requirements:

• Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
• Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
• Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
• Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.
• Confined Space: able to enter and exit a 12" x 22" passage and work through a 9.7" x 17.7" opening while using a respirator within a confined space for various lengths of time
• Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 55lbs/25kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
• Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 55lbs/25kg.
• Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
• Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
• Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
• Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
• Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
• Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
