High school students considered for internship positions at Tucson Proving Ground should have an interest in large mining equipment such as haul trucks, bulldozers, and motor graders. All positions require teamwork and quality customer service. You will partner with and be mentored by an experienced technician, with responsibilities that vary from job to job, including:
Operating a wash rack to ensure equipment is clean before entering the workshop
Diagnosing and repairing mining equipment
Instrumenting machines for tests using strain gauges, thermocouples, and accelerometers
Fabricating and welding prototype parts for tests
Successful performance requires sound judgment, motivation, effective interaction with others, and the ability to handle various responsibilities.
These positions are open to students who are currently classified as Sophomores (Class of 2029) to Seniors (Class of 2027) currently enrolled and in good academic standing at Sahuarita or Walden Grove High Schools.
Safety-first mentality
Must be 16 years of age and a rising junior by the start of the program
Must maintain a 2.5/4.0 cumulative GPA
Full-time student attending a high school in the Sahuarita school district
Reliable transportation
Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer program
Demonstrated leadership skills
These are full-time temporary openings at the Tucson Proving Ground located in Green Valley, AZ. Relocation is not available.
$15.00 - $17.50
An intern's hourly rate is based on the major/degree being pursued and the number of completed academic hours achieved before the start of the internship.
