Job summary

Cascades in Buffalo is seeking a Skid Steer Operator to move, stockpile and feed recyclable materials on the production floor with a strong safety focus.

You will operate skid steer and forklift equipment, sort and process materials, and perform pre-shift checks while supporting plant operations. This is a full-time role with benefits and growth opportunities, with starting pay of $19.00–$20.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• 3+ months of experience operating a skid steer or similar mobile equipment (forklift or loader experience is a plus).
• Strong safety mindset and adherence to PPE requirements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
• Basic communication and team collaboration skills.
• Comfort working indoors/outdoors with exposure to dust, noise and weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate skid steer and forklift to move, stockpile, load, and feed recyclable materials.
• Sort, grade, and manually handle materials according to quality standards and goals.
• Perform pre-shift equipment checks, complete paperwork, and report safety or maintenance issues.
• Assist with receiving incoming loads, directing facility traffic, and keeping work areas clean and safe.
• Follow environmental regulations and company policies, watching for pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

What you’ll do

As aSkid Steer Operator, you’ll be at the heart of operations - right on the floor where materials take shape.
Your day-to-day:

Operate Equipment Safely:Run a skid steer + forklift to move, stockpile, load, and feed recyclable materials into conveyor systems.

Process Materials:Sort, grade, and manually handle specialty materials according to quality standards and team goals.

Inspect & Maintain:Conduct pre-shift equipment checks, complete paperwork, and immediately report maintenance or safety concerns.

Support Plant Operations:Assist with receiving incoming loads, directing facility traffic, and maintaining clean, safe work areas.

Prioritize Safety:Strictly follow environmental regulations, company policies, and look out for pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Your strengths as a Skid Steer Operator

You are a natural fit for this role if:

You have3+ months of experienceoperating a skid steer or similar mobile equipment (forklift or loader experience is a plus).

You thrive in a fast-paced, industrial environment and possess excellent situational awareness.

You are comfortable working inindoor/outdoor settingswith exposure to dust, noise, machinery, and changing weather.

You can meet the physical demands of the role: sitting, standing, climbing in/out of equipment, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

You have a strong safety mindset and are ready to wear required PPE at all times (including 6-inch steel-toed boots).

You possess basic communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative team attitude.
