ScaleWRX is seeking an SKID Engineer – Containment Solutions to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate blends strong technical aptitude with practical problem-solving skills and enjoys collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and construction teams.

This is a remote position with travel to Reno, Nevada HQ and customer sites on rare occasions. ScaleWRX designs and builds prefabricated piping and modular systems for data center liquid cooling, including pipe spools, skids, and HAC

Formación

• 3+ years in mechanical, piping, or application engineering.
• Experience with skid, spool, or modular fabrication preferred.
• Able to read P&IDs, isometrics, and fabrication drawings.

Responsabilidades

• Consult with customers on prefabricated skid and piping solutions from concept to design.
• Design TCS secondary-loop piping from CDU to rack interfaces.
• Review quotes, BOMs, shop drawings for specs and gaps.
• Define scope boundaries and exclusions in quotations.
• Coordinate HAC-to-CDU piping with customers and fabricators before fabrication.
• Support proposals with drawings and material breakdowns.

Role Overview

ScaleWRX is seeking an SKID Engineer – Containment Solutions to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with practical problem-solving skills and enjoys collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and construction teams.

This is a remote position with travel to our Reno, Nevada headquarters and customer job sites on rare occasion.

ScaleWRX designs and builds prefabricated piping and modular systems for data center liquid cooling, including pipe spools, skids, and hot aisle containment (HAC) structures with integrated piping.

Responsibilities

• Get on calls with customers and walk them through prefabricated modular skid and piping solutions, from early concept to final design.
• Design and lay out TCS (technology cooling system) secondary-loop piping, from CDU connections through main headers and branch drops to the isolation valves above the racks, including the piping inside HAC structures.
• Review fabrication partner quotes, BOMs, and shop drawings for material specs, quantities, fittings, valves, insulation, testing, and scope gaps before they reach the customer.
• Define clear scope boundaries, assumptions, and exclusions, such as where our scope ends at rack hoses, CDU primary-side piping, and CRAH piping.
• Coordinate and model HAC-to-CDU piping with customers and fabricators before fabrication is released.
• Support proposals with drawings, technical answers, and material breakdowns that separate materials from labor.
• Work with our shop and project teams so what we sell matches what we can build and install.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years in mechanical, piping, or application engineering. Skid, spool, or modular fabrication experience strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of stainless-steel process or hydronic piping: SS 304, Schedule 10 vs. 40, flanged spools, weld types, ball valves, and gaskets.
• Familiarity with weld procedures (WPS), TIG welding, and NDT requirements (PT, UT/RT, borescope).
• Understanding of pressure and hydrostatic testing, passivation, flushing, and glycol coolant fill for liquid cooling loops.
• Knowledge of pipe insulation systems, such as closed-cell insulation with aluminum jacketing vs. elastomeric.
• Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, and fabrication drawings, and to work in CAD (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Clear communicator who can explain technical choices to customers and spot what's wrong in a quote.
• Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with cable tray and wire basket systems.

Working Conditions

• Standard schedule of Monday through Friday.
• Remote work environment with periodic travel to company headquarters in Reno, Nevada and customer job sites.
• Travel is expected on rare occas.
• Position may require extended periods of sitting and computer work.
• Occasional walking through manufacturing facilities and active construction sites.
• When visiting manufacturing or construction environments, employees are expected to follow all applicable safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
