Job summary

Selectek is recruiting a Project Engineer specializing in mechanical design of skidded/process packages for water treatment systems. The role involves transforming P&IDs into 3D models and fabrication drawings, leading design reviews, and ensuring BOM accuracy and compliance with design codes.

The candidate should have a mechanical engineering background, 5–8 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and Inventor. PE is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of progressive mechanical design experience for skidded/packaged systems.
• Experience with RO skids, chemical injection, filtration or pumping packages is a plus.
• Proficiency in ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, AWWA, ANSI and ISA standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and Autodesk Inventor.
• Hands-on design reviews leadership and inter-discipline coordination.
• Strong BOM validation, piping isometrics and dimensional coordination.
• Excellent communication and teamwork across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee Smart 3D models, layout drawings and fabrication packages.
• Translate P&IDs and specs into accurate 3D piping/mechanical models for fabrication.
• Ensure BOMs are accurate and aligned with procurement and fabrication needs.
• Design and size pumps, valves, filters, tanks, Vessels and PRVs per hydraulics.
• Ensure compliance with ASME B31.3, ASME VIII, ANSI, AWWA and ISA standards.
• Generate GA drawings: equipment layout, skid frame and piping isometrics.
• Lead design reviews for constructability and operability.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and fabrication teams for field adjustments.

Needed Immediately: Project Engineer in Fort Pierce, FL. This is a job description for a Lead/Senior Design Process Mechanical Engineer. The candidate for this role shall be experienced in the detailed design and fabrication of skidded and assembled modular process packages. Experience with skidded packages such as Reverse Osmosis (RO) skids, Pump skids, chemical injection systems, and water treatment filter skids is an added advantage. The candidate will be responsible for transforming process design information (P&IDs and specifications) into complete 3D assembly models and fabrication‑ready drawings. The role requires strong knowledge of industry codes (ASME, ANSI, AWWA, ISA, AWS) and the ability to lead design reviews for constructability, operability, and maintainability.

Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration is an advantage but not required.
Certification or advanced training in 3D design software (Inventor, Plant 3D, or equivalent) preferred.
5–8 years of progressive experience in the mechanical design of skidded or packaged equipment systems (Experience with RO skids, chemical injection, filtration, or pumping packaged systems is an advantage).
Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, AWWA, ANSI, and ISA standards.
Proven ability to generate and check 3D models, layout drawings, and fabrication deliverables.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Autodesk Inventor is essential.
Hands‑on experience leading design reviews, resolving inter‑discipline clashes, and optimizing skids for manufacturability and serviceability.
Excellent attention to detail in BOM validation, piping isometric accuracy, and dimensional coordination.
Strong communication and teamwork skills for cross‑discipline coordination.

Job Details

Technical Design and Development

• Develop and oversee Smart 3D assembly models, layout drawings, and fabrication packages for skidded packages.
• Interpret and translate P&IDs and process specifications into accurate 3D Piping and mechanical models and ensure accuracy of isogen piping isometrics generation ready for fabrication.
• Ensure Bill of Materials (BOMs) are accurate, detailed, and aligned with procurement and fabrication requirements.
• Design and size system components—pumps, valves, filters, Tanks, Pressure vessels, Safety and Pressure Relief devices (PRVs, Rupture disc, etc), and piping—consistent with hydraulic and mechanical requirements.
• Ensure compliance with ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, ANSI, AWWA, and other applicable design codes.
• Generate and supervise the development of general arrangement (GA) drawings including equipment layout, skid frame design and detailing, piping isometrics, and piping support details for shop fabrication.

Quality Assurance and Standards Compliance

• Lead design reviews to evaluate constructability, serviceability, and operational efficiency.
• Validate that 3D models and fabrication drawings conform to established engineering standards and project specifications.
• Work closely with QA/QC teams and shop fabrication personnel to address design clarifications and field adjustments.
• Maintain adherence to departmental drafting and modeling standards, ensuring consistency across projects.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of skid design templates and modeling libraries.

Coordination and Collaboration

• Collaborate with Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers to ensure proper integration of junction boxes, cable trays, conduits, control panels, sensors, and cable routing within skid assemblies.
• Interface with Lead Design Project Engineers, Project Managers, Procurement, and Fabrication teams to align design deliverables
