Job summary

Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska is seeking energetic Ski & Snowboard Instructors to join the Mountain Sports School, teaching alpine skiing and snowboarding to guests of all ages. Extensive on-snow training is provided to help you develop your coaching craft.

You will foster safe, fun learning experiences, support operations, and enjoy employee housing, flexible schedules, and a range of resort benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills.
  • Able to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level and above in all terrain.
  • Ability to ski/snowboard for up to 6.5 hours per day.
  • PSIA Level 1, or foreign equivalent preferred.
  • Able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Placement as an Instructor is contingent upon completing on-snow training and meeting the minimum teaching skills, technical skills and people skills required to successfully manage the guest experience in a safe fun learning environment.

  • Teach group and private lessons, including beginner lessons for both adults and children.
  • Deliver amazing guest experiences in a safe and professional manner, provide feedback to guests that encourages growth and engagement with the sport.
  • Provide exceptional guest service while always maintaining safety as a priority.
  • Support the Mountain Sports School in all facets, including scanning, setting up learning zones, running surface lifts, handing out program lunches, and other duties as assigned.
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings.

We’re looking for Ski & Snowboard Instructors to join our Mountain Sports School team in Girdwood, Alaska.

What You’ll Do

As a Ski & Snowboard Instructor, you will teach alpine skiing and/or snowboarding to children and adults of all ability levels by focusing on the fundamentals of on-mountain safety while providing a fun on-snow experience. Extensive training is provided for inexperienced to advanced candidates.

What We Need
  • Must be over 18 years of age. Those under 18 may apply to become a Junior Instructor.
  • Must have excellent communication and guest service skills.
  • Able to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level and above in all terrain with variable conditions.
  • Ability to ski / snowboard for up to 6.5 hours per day.
  • PSIA Level 1, or foreign equivalent preferred.
  • Able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Placement as an Instructor is contingent upon completing on-snow training and meeting the minimum teaching skills, technical skills and people skills required to successfully manage the guest experience in a safe fun learning environment.
What To Expect
  • Be on alert and at times, on your feet for long periods, including nights, weekends, & holidays.
  • Work in a fast‑paced, high‑energy resort environment.
  • Adapt to seasonal changes around the resort and special events.
  • Physical demands: Ability to demonstrate skiing or snowboarding techniques, lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, walk in various snow conditions, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work Environment: This role occasionally involves extended hours and weekends to accommodate peak business periods. Operating within a dynamic, guest‑centric setting, you will interact frequently with staff, guests, and stakeholders. Your work spans both indoor and outdoor environments, encompassing a range of mountain weather conditions.
