Job summary

Solitude Mountain Resort's Ski & Ride School is seeking a Seasonal Group Lesson Supervisor to oversee daily group lesson products for kids and adults, school groups, and grant-funded programs. You will plan operations, coordinate dates, manage participant inventory, and supervise instructor staffing.

Lead a high-performing team, help schedule staff, and support overall ski school operations while upholding safety and the resort's values.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and communication across 1:1, group, and cross-functional settings.
• Dependable, punctual, and accountable; drive work to completion.
• Able to learn new computer programs.
• Able to synthesize data to make staffing decisions under pressure.
• Organized and innovative; adaptable.
• On-snow supervision experience is a plus.
• PSIA-AASI Level I certification and 2 years industry experience required.
• Level II certification preferred.

Seasonal JOB TITLE: Group Lesson Supervisor

DIVISION: Solitude Ski & Ride School

REPORTS TO: Snowsports Manager

LOCATION: Solitude Ski & Ride School

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/ Seasonal/ Hourly

PAY RATE: $28.88

POSITION: The Ski & Ride School Group Lesson Supervisor oversees all daily group lesson products for kids and adults of all ages. This role also oversees school groups and grant-funded community programs. They are responsible for planning daily operations, coordinating program dates, participant inventory, and instructor staffing. Additionally, this role will support other operational functions including hiring, training, timekeeping, evaluating, recognition & disciplinary action, reporting, and offboarding.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Strong, clear communication and leadership skills across 1:1, group, and cross-functional settings, with the empathy and self-awareness to develop, motivate, and adapt to a team of instructors
• Must be dependable, punctual, and accountable, taking ownership and staying persistent to drive work to completion
• Knowledgeable of basic computer programs, with the ability to learn new ones
• Able to synthesize data and experience to make objective, timely decisions on staffing and operations, even in fast-paced or ambiguous conditions
• Possess an organized work style
• Able to be Innovative and creative
• On snow supervision of Snowsports operation experience is a plus
• Current Level I PSIA-AASI (or equivalent) Certification, and 2 years industry experience is required. Level II PSIA-AASI Certification preferred.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop a high-performing team of instructors by selecting the right people, coaching, training, ongoing skill development, and helping new team members acclimate quickly
• In coordination with counterparts, determine staff schedules
• Manage and execute daily kids and adult lesson products
• Coordinate and oversee school groups and grant-funded community programs
• Support daily ski school operations
• Manage labor to revenue through staffing and assignments
• Manage staff performance with integrity and the resort's values: set clear expectations and deliver recognition, honest and actionable feedback, crucial conversations, disciplinary action, and seasonal evaluations
• Regularly communicate with counterparts in other departments
• Maintain a safe working environment for all staff
• Keep the learning area and facility clean and professional looking.
