Job summary

Alyeska Resort, located in Girdwood, Alaska, seeks a Ski Patrol – Level 2 to safeguard guests on the mountain and support daily operations. You will perform duties from Level I, oversee opening/closing tasks, and lead rescue and evacuation activities as you advance through required certifications.

We require Outdoor Emergency Care, Alaska EMT-1, CPR-BLS, Avalanche Pro 1, and ICS-100, plus at least three seasons of patrol experience.

Qualifications

• Meets all qualifications and competency requirements of Ski Patrol Level I.
• Current Outdoor Emergency Care certification or Alaska EMT-1.
• CPR Basic Life Support certification.
• Avalanche Professional Level 1 (Pro 1) Certification.
• Minimum of three ski patrol seasons of experience.
• ICS-100 or higher certification.
• Knowledge of Alaska Skier Safety Act and Alyeska procedures.
• Proficient in Dispatch, Aid Room, avalanche and missing-person management.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties and operational tasks of Ski Patrol Level I.
• Opens, operates, responds to emergencies, and closes shifts.
• Maintains terrain knowledge and patrol facilities, lifts, and evacuation routes.
• Teaches sweep procedures and supports patrol documentation.
• Acts as instructor in at least two patrol disciplines and mentors patrollers.
• Demonstrates advanced avalanche rescue and supervision duties as qualified.

We’relooking for Ski Patrol– Level 2professionals to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska.

What You’ll Do

As a Ski Patrol– Level2, you will play a vital role in providing a safe environment for guests to recreateon the mountain. Whether it’s ensuring that trails are safe or enforcing rules while patrolling assignedareas, the members of this team are big contributors to our daily operations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Performs all duties and meets all operational expectations of a Ski Patrol Level I employee.

• Independently performs routine opening,operating, emergency response, and closing assignments.

• Demonstrates detailed knowledge of Alyeska’s in-area and outer-area terrain, patrol facilities,chairlifts andtram,liftevacuationplans, emergency access routes, and mountain geography.

• Performs and teaches established sweep procedures for main-area and outer-area terrain.

• Assiststhe closing supervisor with closing duties and understands how to document and pass along operational information for the following day.

• Performs Dispatch duties independently anddemonstratesproficiencywith radio communications, phone notifications, event logging, incident documentation,avalanche andmissing-person procedures, andSmartmountain.

• Performs Aid Room duties independently, including patient-care transfers, documentation, equipment restocking, and returning medical supplies and equipment to service.

• Supervises designated work-run assignments and setup projects, including coordinating personnel,identifyingincomplete or improperly installed safety materials, and ensuring assigned work is completed correctly.

• Serves as a committee chair, assistant chair, or active committee leader and supports committee projects, training, succession planning, and documentation.

• Serves as an approved instructor in at least two patrol disciplines and provides training during annual refreshers, committee training, or on-the-job instruction.

• Mentors less-experienced patrollers and provides constructive feedbackregardingpatrol skills, operational performance, and professional development.

• Demonstrates advanced avalanche rescue competency, including multiple or complex burial searches, RECCO operations, and functioning as a Hasty Team Leader when qualified.

• May serve as a Lift Evacuation Team Leader for assigned zones and coordinates ground teams, guest communication, belay systems, and communication with Dispatch.

• Performs qualified tower-climbing, roll-cabbelay, tram evacuation, and other lift evacuation duties after completing the applicable Level IIsign-offs.

• Performs rope rescue duties consistent with the employee’s completed Level II technical rescue qualifications.

• Conductsincidentinvestigations consistent with completed Phase I through Phase III qualifications andassistswith jump-feature measurements and documentation when qualified.

What We Need

• Meets all qualifications and competency requirements of Ski Patrol Level I.
• Possesses a current Outdoor Emergency Care certification or Alaska EMT-1 certification or higher.
• Possesses a current CPR Basic Life Support certificationappropriate forthe employee’s medical certification.
• Possesses an Avalanche Professional Level 1 (Pro 1) Certification.
• Has a minimum of three seasons of ski patrol experience.
• Possesses a current certificate of completion for IC S-100 or higher.
• Demonstrates detailed knowledge of the Alaska Skier Safety Act, Skier Safety Code, Alyeska safety-enforcement procedures, and applicable reporting requirements.
• Demonstratesproficiencyin Dispatch, Aid Room operations,avalanche andmissing-person management, mountain geography, outer-area sweeps, work-run leadership, safety enforcement, andSmartmountain.
• Demonstrates the advanced skiing ability, control, judgment, and physical fitness necessary to safely perform patrol duties throughout Alyeska’s terrain in variable snow, weather, and visibility conditions, including closed terrain when assessing conditions, preparing terrain for opening, or performing avalanche mitigation.
• Demonstrates advancedtoboggan-handlingskills in steep and technical terrain, including bothin thehandles andintail-rope positions.
• Completes the required Level II lift evacuation, tower climbing, rope rescue,incidentinvestigation, snowmachine, and Snow Safety qualifications.
• Maintains qualification as an approved Alyeska instructor in at least two patrol disciplines.
• Ability toworka flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, night operations, and extended shifts when necessary.
• Ability to work outdoors in severe and rapidly deteriorating weather, snow, darkness, and variable mountain conditions.
• Advancement to Ski Patrol Level II requires successful completion of all Patroller II Checklistsign-offsand approval through the established performance review, peer review, and final management review process.

• Ability toassistwith patient handling, assessment,and transportation over steep,variable, andice orsnow-covered terrain.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and inclement weather conditions.
