Job summary

Aspen Skiing Company’s Ski Patrol team at Aspen Snowmass seeks dedicated Seasonal Full-Time Ski Patrollers to help ensure a safe, welcoming mountain experience across four peaks in Colorado. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Current Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) or Colorado Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned terrain to ensure a safe, welcoming, and high-quality mountain experience through proactive guest engagement, hazard awareness, and visibility across the mountain.
  • Assess and manage daily mountain conditions, including trail status, signage, hazard marking, and coordination of trail openings and closures in partnership with mountain operations.
  • Respond to medical and emergency incidents by providing immediate care, coordinating transport of injured guests, and executing established emergency response protocols.
  • Participate in lift evacuation operations, including training, preparedness, and execution under the direction of patrol leadership.
  • Support snow safety operations, including avalanche mitigation activities, terrain evaluation, and rescue response in coordination with snow safety teams.

The Ski Patrol Basic plays an essential role in creating a safe, enjoyable, and memorable mountain experience for every guest. Working as part of a highly trained and collaborative team, this position responds to emergencies, promotes mountain safety, and helps maintain exceptional skiing and riding conditions through proactive risk management and guest service. Every day offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a dynamic alpine environment. This position reports to the Ski Patrol Director.

Essential Job Functions / Key Job Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned terrain to ensure a safe, welcoming, and high-quality mountain experience through proactive guest engagement, hazard awareness, and visibility across the mountain
  • Assess and manage daily mountain conditions, including trail status, signage, hazard marking, and coordination of trail openings and closures in partnership with mountain operations
  • Conduct end-of-day sweeps and closure procedures to ensure all guests have safely exited the mountain during normal operations and weather-related events
  • Respond to medical and emergency incidents by providing immediate care, coordinating transport of injured guests, and executing established emergency response protocols
  • Participate in lift evacuation operations, including training, preparedness, and execution under the direction of patrol leadership
  • Support snow safety operations, including avalanche mitigation activities, terrain evaluation, and rescue response in coordination with snow safety teams
  • Operate dispatch and communication systems with accuracy, clarity, and professionalism to support effective mountain-wide coordination and incident response
  • Perform snow surface management activities, including packing and improving snow conditions to support safe and consistent skiing and riding experiences
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Current Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) or Colorado Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of ski resort operations, mountain safety practices, and guest service principles
  • Working knowledge of resort weather conditions, snow reports, terrain, base area facilities, and special events
  • Advanced skiing ability with the confidence to safely navigate all terrain and snow conditions while carrying patrol equipment
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in emergency and operational situations
  • Ability to assess situations quickly, exercise sound judgment, and remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to provide compassionate, professional care while responding to medical emergencies and assisting injured guests
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high performing team in a fast paced operational environment
  • Strong attention to detail to identify hazards and support a safe, exceptional guest experience
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time while performing physically demanding work
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours as operational needs require

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
