Job summary

SKATEYOGI in Brooklyn, NY seeks a dedicated Skateboard Instructor to provide a fun, safe skateboarding experience for ages 3-15. In this role you’ll engage students, help them build confidence, and join daily activities and camps.

You will greet families, keep spaces tidy, and work 12-28 hours per week, including weekends. Training is provided and prior skate experience is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a group of students (age range 3-15) and provide a fun, safe and exciting skateboarding experience.
  • Engage in skateboarding activities with students, motivating and encouraging individuals as needed.
  • Keep the indoor space tidy and neat at all times.
  • Cooperate with fellow staff members and greet families and students upon arrival.
  • Participate in all class and camp activities and lead activities when asked to.
  • Help out where needed and lead activities when asked to.

SKATEYOGI has 2 studio locations in Brooklyn, NY: Williamsburg - 58 N 9 Street (Near the L Bedford Ave stop) and Prospect Lefferts Gardens - 140 Empire Blvd (Near the B/Q Prospect Park & 2/5 Sterling St stops).

Our wide student body includes students ranging from elementary school students to teenagers to grown-ups (grandparents included). About this position
  • As a skateboard Instructor, you will be an active participant in all program activities and will assist with a variety of daily tasks, all with the goal of creating a memorable and meaningful skateboarding experience for our students.
  • Our instructors interact with our students throughout the entire day, helping them make friends, try new tricks, and generally caring for their well-being. Their role is to participate, build relationships and have fun while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of every student.

  • Available to work approximately 12-28 hours/week during the school year.
  • Weekday shifts are usually from 3-6:30pm. Weekend shifts are 9am-3pm, with some longer days when we host birthday parties. On school holidays we host day camps - Typical camp day is from 8:15am-3:45pm.
  • Experience teaching and working with children is a plus, but not necessary
  • Can lift objects weighing 15-35 pounds on a regular basis (Ramps, boxes, cart etc)
