The cook prepares, seasons, and cooks food for patients, staff, and visitors according to established recipes and menus. Oversees the work of Culinary Assistants engaged in food production activities. Uses menus and work orders to determine food types and quantities, meets meal schedules, and suggests menu or recipe changes for efficient use of resources. Tests prepared food for quality.
High school diploma or equivalent required. 2-3 years of food production experience in an institutional setting preferred.
Work occurs in kitchen or other areas with generally comfortable conditions, with some exposure to heat, noise, and hazards such as burns or chemical exposure depending on the area.
Successful candidates will be subject to mandatory vaccinations unless exempted.
