Job summary

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Site Technician II for Spitler Woods State Park, Mount Zion, IL. You will perform trash removal, litter pickup, mowing, vegetation control, and maintain buildings and grounds to keep the site safe and welcoming.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and 2 years of maintenance or farming experience. A valid driver’s license is required and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation.
• Requires two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, performs semi-skilled maintenance and program support tasks at Spitler Woods, Lincoln Trail Homestead, and Calamus Lake NP.
• Operates trucks, bushhogs, tree spades, woods mower, power augers, stump cutters while engaged in site maintenance, improvement, and construction projects.
• Inspects public use areas for safety hazards.
• Performs routine maintenance of vehicles and other equipment.
• Performs minor repairs to buildings and structures.
• Provides functional supervision, leadership, and direction to Conservation Workers, volunteers, and other site staff.
