Job Requirements
The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire Site Supervisors and Assistant Site Supervisors. Scheduled hours vary for each program. Employees in these positions are responsible for directing or assisting with directing day camp program activities, ensuring safety, preparing facilities, and supervising program staff. Work is performed according to established guidelines and reviewed by the Recreation Coordinator.
Essential Job Functions
- Depending on the position, perform (Site Supervisor) or assist (Assistant Site Supervisor) with duties such as training, supervising, and evaluating seasonal/part-time staff.
- Schedule staff and verify staff hours using city-supported scheduling software.
- Direct and assist with daily activities and facility preparation and cleanup.
- Order or purchase supplies needed for camp activities.
- Review, adjust, and conduct training activities for staff based on Staff and Parent Manuals, following set guidelines.
- Maintain records of campers' emergency contact information and ensure records are taken during outings.
- Compile Incident/Accident Report Forms, Conduct Reports, and other paperwork, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Dispense medication as needed, log in the Medication Record, and ensure proper record-keeping by staff.
- Plan and lead staff meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for staff and campers.
- Respond to accidents and emergencies appropriately, administering first aid per protocols.
- Complete incident and accident reports according to department policy.
- Perform duties in compliance with City policies, procedures, rules, and the employee handbook.
- Perform the job safely, adhering to City safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Other Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- CPR/First Aid Certification required (training available upon hire).
- Minimum of one year of recreation and/or child care experience.
- Leadership and supervision skills.
- Good knowledge of school-aged activity programs.
