Job summary

Electrosonic in New York, NY seeks a Construction Supervisor to lead safety, planning, and field execution for complex AV/control projects. You will assess hazards, organize resources, and supervise subcontractors and staff to deliver on schedule.

You will perform quality inspections, coordinate materials and labor, and produce daily reports while enforcing health and safety standards. Extensive travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading construction projects with subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of state building codes and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and construction documents.
  • Five years in AV/control field plus strong general construction skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Job description

The Position:

In this role, you will both assess and manage safety hazards in the workplace. You will complete construction projects by planning, organizing, and controlling projects. You will also complete quality inspections and supervise sub-contractors and staff.

What will you be doing?
  • 1. The Supervisor will be selected with equal emphasis on construction skills, the ability to transfer skills to others and create a team atmosphere of working together.
  • 2. Establish & maintain high staff morale, model sound leadership and teamwork.
  • 3. Schedule delivery of needed materials and labor requests.
  • 4. Make suggestions and recommendations for repair.
  • 5. Schedule delivery of needed materials and labor requests.
  • 6. Trouble-shoot and identify construction problems; offer timely and safe solutions.
  • 7. Ensure project proceeds in a timely manner.
  • 8. Manage tool and materials inventory for each project. Ensure unused materials are accounted for and reported to the team.
  • 9. Complete necessary daily reports and meet at least weekly with the project team to discuss installation progress.
  • 10. Perform other activities and responsibilities as directed by the immediate manager.
  • 11. Follow Electrosonic health and safety policies and procedures.

  • 1. Accomplishes construction human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • 2. Manages sub-contractors by locating, evaluating, and selecting sub-contractors; monitoring and controlling performance.
  • 3. Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements.
  • 4. Meets construction budget by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
  • 5. Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders.
  • 6. Approves construction project milestones by conducting inspections at critical phases and obtaining client approvals.
  • 7. Prevents fines and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes.
  • 8. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • 9. Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • 10. Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
_ What _ _ qualifications _ _ are _ _ required? _

  • 4. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in general construction with excellent hands-on construction skills.
  • 5. Mechanically Inclined
  • 6. Knowledge of State building codes
  • 7. 5 Years of experience in the Audio Video and control field.
  • 8. Excellent low voltage troubleshooting skills.
  • 9. Experience in supervising construction projects.
  • 10. The ability to set priorities and exercise flexibility where necessary
  • 11. The willingness to accept other job responsibilities as needed.
  • 12. Good understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, foundations, carpentry and masonry work.
  • 13. Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
  • 14. Understanding of proper OSHA safety procedures and recognition of hazards
  • 15. Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and other construction software
  • 16. Ability to critically look at craftsmanship
  • 17. Ability to mediate disputes using the win-win philosophy
  • 18. Ability to organize time, material, and labor
  • 19. The ability to multitask
  • 20. The ability to supervise numerous crews handling a variety of tasks
  • 21. Excellent communications ability
  • 22. Familiarity with LEED certification a plus.
  • 23. This position requires extensive travel
