Job summary

Cardinal Compliance Consultants, LLC seeks a Site Safety Officer in Florence, KY for a full-time, on-site role supporting a construction project. You will spend most days in the field with crews, conducting safety observations and enforcing site safety plans.

You will verify OSHA adherence, lead toolbox talks, and work with supervision to implement corrective actions, ensuring a safe and productive work environment on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of construction safety experience.
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Familiarity with Hammertech software.
• Experience on data center construction projects preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Spend the majority of each workday in the field, actively observing construction activities and interacting with workers and supervisors.
• Conduct routine jobsite inspections and safety observations to identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and non-compliance with project requirements.
• Engage directly with workers and supervisors to address safety concerns and facilitate timely corrective actions.
• Monitor high-risk construction activities, including work at heights, electrical work, excavation, material handling, mobile equipment operations, lifting and rigging.
• Verify compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, site-specific safety plans, and established safe work practices.
• Participate in and support toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and other field-based safety training.
• Assist with incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations, including documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
• Document field observations, inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions accurately and professionally.
• Follow up on identified safety concerns to verify corrective actions have been completed and are effective.
• Support project leadership, supervisors, and trade partners in maintaining safe and productive construction operations.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through consistent field presence, coaching, communication, and professional conduct.
• Represent Cardinal Compliance Consultants and our client with a high level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and commitment to safety excellence.

Role Description

The Site Safety Officer is a full-time, on-site position based in Florence, KY, supporting safety operations for our client’s construction activities. This is a highly field-focused role, with the expectation that the majority of working time will be spent actively engaged with construction crews, supervisors, and trade partners in the field.

This position is responsible for conducting routine and continuous field observations, identifying unsafe conditions and behaviors, verifying compliance with project safety requirements, and working directly with site personnel to correct hazards before incidents occur. This individual will serve as a visible and approachable safety presence throughout the project and is expected to build strong working relationships with craft personnel and frontline supervision.

Key responsibilities include:

• Spend the majority of each workday in the field, actively observing construction activities and interacting with workers and supervisors.

• Participate in and support pre-task planning, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and daily safety planning activities.


• Conduct and support toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and other field-based safety training.


• Assist with incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations, including documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.


• Document field observations, inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions accurately and professionally.


• Follow up on identified safety concerns to verify corrective actions have been completed and are effective.


• Support project leadership, supervisors, and trade partners in maintaining safe and productive construction operations.


• Promote a proactive safety culture through consistent field presence, coaching, communication, and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience working directly in active construction environments and providing hands-on field safety support.


• Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements and generally accepted construction safety practices.


• Ability and willingness to spend the majority of working hours walking and working throughout an active construction site, rather than performing primarily office-based safety functions.


• Experience conducting field safety inspections, hazard assessments, safety observations, and corrective action follow-up.


• Experience delivering toolbox talks, safety orientations, and other field-level safety training.


• Working knowledge of incident and near-miss investigation practices, including documentation and corrective actions.


• Ability to recognize hazards associated with common construction activities, including fall exposures, electrical work, excavation, scaffolding, ladders, mobile equipment, cranes and rigging, material handling, and energy control.


• Ability to effectively communicate safety expectations with craft workers, foremen, superintendents, project management, and client representatives.


• Strong observational, interpersonal, documentation, and problem-solving skills.


• Ability to professionally intervene when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed and work collaboratively with supervision to achieve resolution.


• High level of integrity, accountability, professionalism, and attention to detail.


• Ability to work extended construction schedules as required by project conditions.


• Preference given to local (within 2 hours) candidates.
