Job summary

Job description

Site Safety Manager

Responsible for overall safety management and support functions for a local construction project, focusing on a 1 to 2 year project. Works directly with the project team and the Risk Management Department to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Act as an internal consultant to all company business units with respect to safety.
  • Ensure Clune employee, trade partner, visitor and vendor compliance with Clune safety guidelines, project requirements, local, state and national regulations.
  • Work with the project team and Regional Safety Director or Manager to ensure safety programs and protocols for the project meet and/or exceed client safety requirements.
  • Ensure all required client safety documentation has been provided to trade partners.
  • Review, audit and file all required client safety documentation.
  • Provide updated safety statistics for client upon request.
  • Provide safety guidance in the planning stages for the project.
  • Coordinate, manage and/or conduct safety education programs for Clune Management, Supervision, and Employees.
  • Attend and contribute to company and project safety meetings.
  • Attend outside training for added designations and to keep up with changes in the industry.
  • Role model professionally for Clune employees, trade partners, visitors and vendors.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role is responsible for supervision and mentoring of Safety Personnel who work on the project.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to hold discussions with various members of Clune and/or trade‑partner communities, ranging from field employees to executives.
  • Strong planning skills to organize weekly and daily schedules that may involve a combination of meetings, walk‑throughs, etc.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • Desire and ability to work in team‑focused environments, act as internal point of contact for Clune on safety‑related items and external collaborator to develop industry best practices.
  • Mentoring skills to foster the growth of fellow Clune employees’ safety knowledge.
  • While performing the duties, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders, and walk on uneven ground.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field; or equivalent combination of 5–10 years education and experience.
  • Construction – OSHA 30‑hour certification, preferred.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local safety standards.
